Mangalore, Jun 8: A person found to be smuggling gold from Dubai has been nabbed by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials on Saturday, at Mangalore International Airport.
The officials have seized 12 gold chains weighing 200 grams, estimated to cost Rs 5 lac in total, from a person named Sanaulla (48), a resident of Bhatkal.
The accused who flew to Mangalore from Dubai by Jet airways was in a bid to escape the officials. He is said to have hidden the ornaments in the sleeves of his shirt. The police on inspection detected the ornaments and seized them.
DRI officials are investigating the case.
