Mangalore Jun 8: Students' Federation of India (SFI) has requested the newly formed Congress government to pay attention to education system in state and cleanse it from the results of various experimentation done by the former BJP government.
Addressing the press here on Saturday, Ananth Kumar, Sate President, SFI, said that nearly 46 associates of SFI have been arrested throughout the State on November 1 for peacefully protesting against the faulty decisions of closing down government schools. The arrested include 12 juveniles as well.
"We demand the Chief Minister to take steps to release all the 12 arrested innocents," he said adding that the Government must take steps to cleanse the education system from the impacts of 'saffronisation' process conducted by the BJP in the past.
Looking into collection of capitation fees in private colleges, reopening of terminated government colleges, politico-religious intervention in educational institution, better hostel facility and cancellation of plea to raise private colleges as universities were some of the other demands kept forth by the organisation.
Jeevan Raj Kuttar, Sate joint Secretary, SFI, Nitin Kuttar, District President, SFI and Charan Panjimogaru were present at the press conference.
