While, Mr Advani's resignation has been linked to Gujarat CM Narendra Modi's anointment as the BJP's Campaign Committee Chief, Mr Gowda has said that there is no connection between the two episodes at all.
“There is no additional information on the resignation of BJP's veteran leader L K Advani, at this time. However, all attempts will be made to convince the leader and make him think over his move again. We believe that he will revoke his decision and remain in the party folds,” said Mr Gowda addressing the reporters in Puttur.
Calling Mr Advani as a seasoned and a selfless politician, Mr Gowda said that Mr Advai has always given importance to nationalism in his political career. “There is no BJP without Advani,” said Mr Gowda adding that the BJP leadership has already decided not to accept the resignation.
However, speaking about Mr Modi, Gowda said that Modi is the strength of the BJP who is going to bring in lot of vibrancy into the party. “Modi has been vested with this responsibility purely on the basis of his merit. The development that he has brought in Gujarat should be emulated across the country,” he said adding that Modi has the power to change the face of Indian politics in future.
