Addressing media persons at a news conference in Mangalore on Tuesday, Mr. Pinto said that the state body took a decision with regard to holding elections for its district unit at a meeting held on May 26 in Bangalore. The election process will begin in July and will be completed by September.
G Siddhagangayya, Deputy Secretary, has been appointed as the Returning Officer for the elections. A separate circular notifying election schedule and other related issues will be issued soon, he said.
Government workers at taluk as well as district levels have been asked to confirm their registration with the Association before June 20 as no new names will be included in the voter list after the cut off date, Mr. Pinto said.
At present, there are 6 lakh government workers in the state including 25,000 from Dakshina Kannada district, he informed.
