SCDCC to felicitate Ministers, MLAs from undivided DK districts

Mangalore Jun 11: South Canara District Central Co -operation Bank (SCDCC) and Navodaya Rural Development Charitable Trust will felicitate all the elected MLA's and Ministers from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on June 16 at Loyola Hall, informed M N Rajendra Kumar, President of SCDCC Bank.

Addressing the press here on Tuesday at SCDCC head office, he said that, since 3 ministers are selected from coastal region, felicitation program is aimed to motivate all representatives to work collectively for the betterment of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district.

Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology and Dakshina Kannada district-in-charge B Ramanath Rai, Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader, Minister for Urban Development Vinay Kumar Sorake, Minister for Fisheries and Youth Affair K Abhaychandra Jain, MLAs J R Lobo, Moideen Bawa, Pramod Madhwaraj, K Vasanth Bangera, S Angara, Haladi Srinivas Shetty, Shakuntala T Shetty, Gopal Poojary, and V Sunil Kumar will be felicitated.

Mr Prasad said that in addition to the leaders from undivided Dakshina Kannada district, S R Patil, Minster for Information and Technology and Bagalkot District in-charge Minister and Kimanne Ratnakara, Minister for Primary and secondary Education will also be felicitated.

While bringing all the MLA's and minister on one platform, the SCDCC will make them realize the hardship faced by farmers and co-operative society in the district informed Mr Prasad.

Money hasn't reached

Talking about the Rs 217 crore claimed to be sanctioned by the BJP government in 2009 to waive off the farmers' loan, the President said that not even a single penny has reached the co-operative banks so far.

Gutka ban

With regard to the much debated 'Gutka ban', Mr Prasad said that it will not have any implication on the arecanut farmers. "Since Dakshina Kannada variety of arecanut is not used in Gutka, government can move ahead with implementation of the ban," said Mr Prasad.

Melkar, Dec 17: The 17th Annual Day and Graduation Ceremony of Melkar Women’s PU and Degree College, themed “Fusion-2K25,” was celebrated with dignity and enthusiasm, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s academic journey. The programme reflected the college’s steadfast commitment to academic excellence, character building, and the holistic development of students.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Asif Mohammed, whose presence greatly enriched the occasion. The celebration was further graced by the chief guests Mr. P. B. Ahmed Mudassir and Mr. Nissar Fakeer Mohammed, along with the distinguished guests of honour Mr. B. A. Nazeer and Mr. Ibrahim Gadiyar. In their inspiring addresses, the guests encouraged the graduating students and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the management, faculty, and students.

The annual report was presented by the Principal, Mr. Abdul Majeed S, highlighting the institution’s academic progress, notable achievements, and extracurricular accomplishments during the academic year.

The presidential address was delivered by the esteemed Chairman of Melkar Women’s PU and Degree College, Dr. Haji S. M. Cultural programmes and academic recognitions formed an integral part of the celebration, showcasing the talents and achievements of the students. The graduation ceremony was a proud moment for the outgoing students as they were formally conferred degrees and wished success in their future endeavours.

Ms. Mashmooma Fathima served as the Master of Ceremonies. The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Fathima Nida, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Ayisha Suhana.

The event successfully achieved its objectives and was highly appreciated by the guests and attendees.
