Mangalore, Jun 16: An auto driver from Mangalore put up a wonderful show of honest and sincerity at a juncture of time when such virtues have become mere words in the dictionary.
Praveen, an auto driver from Yemmekere found a bag belonging to a passenger in his auto. The bag contained a laptop, gold chain, mobile phone, visa, passport, shirts and various other commodities which would lure any person to keep it for themselves. But not driven by greed, Praveen promptly took the bag and handed it over to the police.
The bag belonged to Isbu (40) who, on June 13 had returned from Saudi Arabia and was travelling to his native place. Isbu had got down from a bus with his baggage at Pumpwell and hired an auto to reach the bus stand so that he could board a bus to Uppinangady.
However, while leaving the auto, in a hurry Isbu left a bag and proceeded.
What was startling was the fact that when Praveen informed about the bag to one of his fellow auto drivers, the latter claimed to be Isbu's relative.
This auto driver tried to make hay when the sun shines and called up Isbu and kept forth a demand for Rs 20,000 to get the bag back.
Praveen discovered about this and handed over the bag to the police, who informed Nelyadi police about the same.
Nelyadi police got in touch with Isbu and told him about the bag being delivered at the police station.
On June 15, Isbu received the bag from Praveen at Mangalore in presence of ACP Kavitha.
