Mangalore, Jul 16: A man has lodged a complaint with Commissioner of Police against Panambur SI Bharati. The complainant, Mohommad Sharief from Kasaba Bengre in his complaint has said that the SI has defamed him by calling him a 'thief'.
Mohommad, a boat repair worker has said in his complaint that he lives at Bengre with his ailing mother, brother and sister-in-law and on July 7, the SI who came to his house in a private car quizzed his mother about his whereabouts.
“She did not just say that I am a thief, but also said that if she fails to trace me, she will drag my entire family to the station,” said Mohommad in his complaint adding that since he was not at home, his mother and family members were in state of fear and shock and since it is the month of fasting for them, they had been deeply affected by the behavior of the SI.
“The SI who openly proclaimed that I was a thief, had come home in a private car and had no documents in hand to establish whatever she was claiming,” he said urging action against the SI.
Mohommad narrated that SI Bharati has vengeance on him as four years ago she had picked him as an accused in a minor clash that had taken place at fisheries wharf at Mangalore. “I had pleaded that I was innocent but she had dragged me to the station and assaulted me. My fingers were injured to the extent that even today I find it difficult to use my hands.
However, clarifying the same, SI Bharati said that the claims made by Mohommad were far from truth and that certain rowdy sheeters resort to such tactics only to garner sympathy.
“Being public servants we will never want to harass the innocents,” she said.
