Bangalore, Jul 16: Tippu Sulthan Central University will be formed at Srirangapatna at any cost, said Minister for Minority Affairs Dr K Rahman Khan. He said that in this connection a letter has been written to the Government to provide 200 acre of land.

Addressing reporters on Monday, he said that, as per the recommendations of Sachar Committee, five universities have to be set up in different states for minorities and one will be formed in Srirangapatna bearing name of Tippu Sulthan.
Mr Khan said that officials are inspecting land as per the directions of the Chief Minister. “Despite demanding the previous government for land for the University, no land was allotted. While there were no oppositions for setting up of universities for minorities anywhere else, oppositions were seen only in Karnataka under the BJP rule against the proposed Tipu Sulthan University,” he said adding that the University will become a reality soon as the Congress has come to power in the state.
“Sachar Committee has spoken about the plight of Muslims. Nobody is thinking on the lines of bringing these people to the mainstream of the society. Are Muslims not the citizens of this country,” questioned Mr Khan.
