The accused Faizal (30) from Shantinagar, Kavoor, allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl from Jyothinagar, Kavoor, originally hailing from Bhadravati.

The victim who is a students had been taking the 47B route bus named 'Raksha' in which the accused is employed as a conductor. Faizal had been noticing the girl and few months ago he mustered courage to approach the girl. He told the girl that he had clicked several pictures of her in the bus and if she did not yield to his demands, then he would morph her pictures and upload it in internet.

Frightened by this, the girl submitted to his demands and Faizal continued to make use of the girl's helplessness.

Soon, Faizal started stalking girl and traced her residence too.

He then began stalking her and also found out her place of residence and her daily routine. In April, when her parents went to Bhadravati to attend a funeral for three days, Faizal made use of the opportunity and reportedly raped the girl in her residence for three days.

While he again played the same card of uploading her pictures on the internet, the victim was compelled to remain silent. However, it could not remain a secret for long as the girl became pregnant and the parents came to know of the pangs their daughter had been through.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a high-alert warning to vehicle owners regarding a surge in cyber fraud targeting those looking to pay traffic violation fines. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

•    Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

•    Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

•    Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.
