Mangalore, Jul 17: The residents of Pachchanady, Vamanjur, Kudupu and nearby areas who are fed up of seeing waste being dumped here and there in the vicinity, protested in a unique way on Wednesday night. The raged residents brought some poultry waste and dumped it in front of Mangalore City Corporation and staged a stir at night demanding clean environment.

It is said that poultry wastes in large quantity is being dumped in and around Pachchanady's residential areas and areas where some educational institutions are functioning.

The stench from decaying waste is causing a lot of inconvenience to the people who are also scared of an outbreak of epidemic. The residents, who came with four loads of dumped waste, landed at the MCC building and tried to put across a point.

The residents said that when they brought the matter to the notice of the joint Commissioner, he did not respond to it. When the menace continued, the residents said that they again tried to convey the message to the Joint Commissioner who responded in a rather rude manner. “Throw the waste at Nanthoor Junction,” the Joint Commissioner had said.

This attitude of the Joint Commissioner raged the local residents and compelled them to take the step of bringing the waste to the doorsteps of the MCC and stage a stir, said Vinod, a local resident.
