Announcing this at a press meet here on Thursday, general secretary of the committee M S Abdul Lathief said that the mass marriage would be conducted free of cost with the aim of deterring the practice of dowry and to help orphaned and underprivileged Muslim girls of marriageable age.
As many as 25 Muslim couples will enter into wedlock in the marriage ceremony to be solemnised by Khazi of Dakshina Kannada Shaikhuna Thwaka Ahmed Musliyar. A total of ten sovereign gold and other costs will be provided to the couples by the organisation, he said.
The last date for eligible backward families to apply for the marriage ceremony is October 31. The application forms can be availed from the office-bearers of the organisation or from their offices in Mangalore and Moodbidri.
