This is the third time Ma'adani is moving the High Court for bail on health reasons even as his two earlier pleas for release on bail were rejected.

Justice H N Nagamohan Das, before whom the petitions came up for hearing, adjourned further hearing to July 25 while asking the State Public Prosecutor to file objections.

In his petition, Ma'adani, who is a leader of People's Democratic Party, alleged that the prison authorities were not providing him with regular follow-up treatment even though they had provided him treatment for his ailments at two private hospitals as per the earlier orders of the court.

It was further claimed in the petition that doctors at Soukhya International Holistic Centre, where he was treated as per court's earlier order, had certified that he requires close monitoring and treatment by specialist doctors for a period of six months and another six months for recuperation.

He has also claimed that the doctors have advised complete bed rest and daily attention from family members.

It has been pointed out in the petition that if he is not allowed to take proper treatment by releasing him on bail, he would lose his left leg; his right leg has already been amputated due to diabetes and that he would also lose sight in the left eye.

He has already lost vision in the right eye.

Ma'adani also alleged in the petition that the police are protracting the trail by not ensuring presence of witnesses while pointing out that so far only 70 witnesses have been examined of the total 550.

Besides, he has claimed that the police investigation had found that there was no mobile phone in his name which was involved in any conversation with others.

Ma'adani (46), who was arrested in August 2010 from Kerala, is lodged in Central Prison Bangalore since then. He claims to be suffering from other ailments like cardiac problems, disc prolapse, cervical spondylosis etc.
