Speaking at a press conference held here on Tuesday, state convenor of the Samithi M Devadas said that president of the non-teaching employees association Govind Matti, secretary Vijayaraj and former office-bearer Raviprakash had been suspended from duty on June 4, 2012 for having objected to the construction of a running track on land allotted for staff quarters for non-teaching staff employed at the university.
Mr Devadas said that their suspension had been ordered on false grounds and a departmental enquiry had been ordered against the ones in question, which was unjust. He alleged that the vice-chancellor had been indulging in racial segregation of Dalits, in spite of hailing from the same community.
It has been over a year since an enquiry was placed on Govind Matti, Vijayaraj and Raviprakash on charges of obstruction of duty, which had not reached any conclusion so far, he said, demanding that the suspension of the office bearers be revoked immediately.
He also said that a case had been registered at Konaje police station against the enquiry committee when it failed to produce documents supporting the charges against the suspended officials.
In addition to the cancellation of their suspension, the Samithi has also demanded for the immediate removal of the vice-chancellor from his post.
They have also demanded that legal action should be taken against the enquiry committee which had failed to produce supporting documents.
