
Ashraf and Prasad had been acquiantances and had been constantly in touch with each other over Facebook. However, two months ago, Ashraf had posted derogatory comment against a Hindu outfit, which was disliked by Prasad. In retaliation to this, Prasad too posted a provocative comment. Ashraf, showed the comment to his friends and on Thursday a group took Prasad's comment against a Muslim organization seriously and headed to the place where Prasad was employed, at Kambalapadau with an intention to attack him.
The police who rushed the spot immediately nabbed both Prasad and Ashraf. Meanwhile, over 300 people gathered outside Konaje police station and demanded action against those responsible for the attack.
The incident created tense atmosphere in and around Mudipu areas and shops remained close as the traders anticipated trouble.
Both the youth hail from Kasargod district. While Ashraf is from Uppala, Prasad hails from Kumbla and the two have been living at Kurnadu near Mudipu since last 5 years. The two had even been neighbours in the past. The incident fuelled tension in Kumbla area as well. Security has been beefed up in Mudipu area.
