Fr Muller Medical College hosts 'Muller Quest - 2013' in Mangalore

Mangalore, July 27: It is said that knowledge should be shared. In accordance to the saying, Muller Quest 2013 did exactly the same.

'Muller Quest - 2013', an inter-collegiate postgraduate lecture contest in pharmacology was organized by the Department of Pharmacology, Father Muller Medical College (FMMC) here on Saturday.

Speaking at the inaugural programme of the event, administrator of FMMC Fr Rudolf D'Sa said that Muller Quest - 2013 was the search for knowledge. “Knowledge should not be hoarded, or restricted. Rather, we should keep ourselves updated and learn the art of communicating our knowledge to others, thereby leading them forward on the path towards enlightenment,” he said.

In his presidential address, director of FMMC Fr Patrick Rodrigues said that motivation and opportunity was important for an individual to grow and face challenges. Dean of the college Dr J P Alva was present during the programme.

With the topic 'Recent developments in medicine', the contest threw light on various developments and innovations in the field of Pharmacology which have contributed in making life healthier.

It provided a platform for the budding pharmacologists to exhibit their talent in the field of teaching. The main aim of the competition was to make the participants keep up with the new developments in medicine and also to communicate this to others.

Students from seven medical colleges from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts participated in the competition.

The first prize was won by Dr Paul from K S Hegde Medical Academy, Mangalore. The second prize was won by Dr Rajesh Basavaraj from KVG Medical College, Sullia, and the third prize was won by Dr Priyankam from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore.

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Air India Express has announced that it will resume direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat from March 2026, restoring an important international air link for passengers from the coastal region.

Airport authorities said the service will operate twice a week—on Sundays and Tuesdays—from March 1. The initial flights are scheduled on March 3, 8 and 10, followed by March 15 and 17, with the same operating pattern to continue thereafter. The flight duration is approximately three hours and 25 minutes.

The Mangaluru–Muscat route was earlier operated under the 2025 summer schedule, with services beginning on July 14. At that time, Air India Express had operated four flights a week before suspending the service.

Officials said the summer schedule will come into effect from March 29, after which changes in flight timings and departure schedules from Mangaluru are expected. Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules while planning their travel.

The resumption of direct flights to Muscat is expected to significantly benefit expatriates, business travellers and others, further strengthening Mangaluru’s air connectivity with the Gulf region.
