Mangalore, Jul 30: Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has taken up a crusade against the eateries in Mangalore, which have been over pricing the delicacies served. The organisation seeking uniform pricing in all hotels across the city has sought District administration to have a regulatory policy to control the practice of raising food price in hotels, restaurants and eateries.
Addressing a news conference in Mangalore, DYFI President Muneer Katipalla said that there are no regulatory bodies keeping tab on the price of the food served in hotels and eateries. Hence hotelier and joint owners price food as per their will and wish.
"District administration should come forth and control the prices of the food items in the hotels because the present trend is making holes in the pockets of common man," he said adding that it is learnt that in order to maintain superior standards, some of the restaurants, hotels and bar attached restaurants are pressurising small hotel owners to increase prices of food item. Since the prices are hiked commoners are not able to afford it.
"There should be equal price in every place so that a commoner also can afford the delicacies. Entrepreneurs should stop giving reason of increasing prices of commodities," Mr Katipalla stated adding that if the district administration fails to do so then DYFI with like-minded organisations will stage a stir.
