Mangalore, Jul 31: Pejwar Seer, who had steadfastly supported the protest against the Nagarjuna power plant at Nandikur, has declared that he is with the people of Niddodi in their fight against the proposed thermal power plant.
Speaking about his stand, Vishweshatheertha Swamiji said that any project which hijacks the local residents' right to dignified life will be opposed by him.
“I oppose Niddodi project because it is evident that the interest of people has been sidelined. I will take part in the protests against the project,” he said speaking to news persons on Tuesday.
“People of the region should be taken into confidence while implementing any project. They should have complete information about the nature of the project, status, pros and cons. The Government has to conduct feasibility study in the region before planning any such projects,” he said calling upon the government to respect the feelings of the farmers.
Calling Yethinahole and Niddodi projects as two big burdens on the district, the Seer said that though they have faith in words of the district-in-charge minister that the projects will not be implemented, the struggle against the projects will be continued. However, he called upon the protesters not to go violent in their fight.
