
The incident of pelting stone took place at Sullia police station about one and half year ago. The complaint was that BJP leaders and their family members were attacked and threatened by the cops. Accordingly cases were filed against the then SP Labu Ram, Additional SP Prabhakar, Sullia SI Ravi Kumar, Kadaba SI Palpriya Kumar, Puttur SI Ananda Kabburi and others.
Case was filed by Sullia Town BJP President P K Umesh, Town Panchayat Vice-President Prakash Hegde, Zilla Panchayat member Navin Kumar and his family members Sanjeevi Rai, Roopa Rai, Ubaradka Leelavathi Rai and Doddathota Guruprasad. Sullia Court has accepted the complaint and has issued summons to the police officials to appear before the court on August 1.
It may be recalled that on December 14, 2011, Hindu activists had waylaid two persons from other community at Jalsoor and handed them over to Sullia police. When the police let the couple go, the raged Hindu activists attacked the station at about 9 pm, injuring several policemen. To control the mob, the cops resorted to lathi-charge.
