
Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology B Ramanatha Rai inaugurated the programme by planting saplings at the park. He said that Vanamahotsava is a meaningful celebration, as it makes the city green.
He said as a part of Vanamahotsava government has planned to plant saplings all over Karnataka. Some sterile land is chosen for greenery and plantation will be done according to the vegetation grows here.
As a part of it on August 3 'Laksha Vraksha' project will be launched in Mangalore, he said.
“Forest is as equally important to mankind as food crops. In order make it human friendly forest department has taken up steps to grow it. Also planned to involve voluntary groups”, Rai said.
Deputy conservator of forest O Palaiah, assistant conservator Padmanabha Gowda and association general secretary Srinivasa Indaje were the guests.
