Kumar Malemar, a leader of Sena, speaking at a press conference here on Saturday said that even though the illegal cattle transportation and slaughtering are increasing in the district police have remained a mute spectator. This indicates that police have forgotten about the communal riots took place in Mangalore in the past, he said.
He said that Sena will not tolerate the cowardly act of the cattle thieves, because of whom poor families are suffering especially in Surathkal area of the district. Hindu society still exists and cattle thieves will be taught a lesson, he said.
He demanded the government to immediately release compensations for families that have lost their cattle in recent days.
Mr Malemar accused jurisdictional MLA B A Mohiuddin Bava of not showing any concern towards the families that lost their cattle in Surathkal area.
However, he appreciated Sub Inspector Bharati for seizing 13 cattle from illegal slaughter house in Pananmbur police station limits recently.
He said that the Sena welcomed the decision taken by state government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to restore the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Act, 1964, that governs the slaughter of cattle in the State.
