Udupi, Aug 9: Demanding strong retaliation against Pakistan for alleged killing of five Indian soldiers along the LoC, the Udupi district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Yuva Morcha staged a dharna here on Thursday.

The protesters burnt the effigy of Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in front of the Clock Tower to express their anger.

Addressing the protesters former MLA Raghupati Bhat accused the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government of cheating the Indians and Indian army through its double standard.

He said that the response of the Indian government to the killing of five Indian soldiers along the LoC by Pakistan was very weak and annoying.

He said that it is not an isolated case of ceasefire violation. A few months back two Indian soldiers were beheaded. The officers feel that Pakistani army is trying to dent the morale of the Indian soldiers by carrying out repeated attacks, therefore Indian government should give limited freedom to the army to take retaliatory action, he said.

The statements given by the Defence Minister A.K. Antony and the Indian Army on the issue were contradictory, he added.
