Addressing a news conference on Friday, he said that the Congress government showed green signal only because of the power requirements of the state. “However, now after realizing the ground realities and understanding the emotions of the people living in and around the project area, I will urge the Chief Minister to withdraw the project. I am against this project,” he said
With regard to the Assembly election manifesto, he said that the Congress party is committed to translate each and every word that was mentioned in the election manifesto into reality and in this regard a new manifesto committee has been formed by the party with Defence Minister A K Antony as its head and with Karnataka Chief minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC President Dr Parameshwar and H K Patil as its members.
Talking about the crisis faced by the areca growers in the region, he said that special plans for areca growers have been chalked out and all steps are being taken to waive off the loans of these growers who have been facing huge losses due to yellow leaf disease.
