Jain Basadi theft takes political turn

Moodbidri, Aug 18: The theft in Siddhantha Darshana Mandir of Moodabiri is all set to get new colours with the Jain seer Swasthishree Bhattaraka Charukeerthi Pandithacharyavarya Swamiji seeking CBI probe into the same as he has strongly hinted as the possible of political foul play in the same.

It is now learnt that Santhosh Das, the kingpin of the entire theft and Rajaji, who is said to have bought the idols share a close bond with each other, as against the confession of Rajaji that he does not know Das very well.

According to Das's statement seven idols were bought by Rajaji and his close aide Ashok Baredi while five idols were all set to meet the furnace.

Political connection

Ashok Baredi is the proprietor of A T Jewellers at Sadar Bazar in Raipur of Chattisgarh.

It is said that Mr Baredi has been running several business undertaking belonging to Chattisgarh PWD Minister Brijmohan Agarwal.

According to source Mr Baredi and Mr Agarwal have several educational institutions and hospitals in partnership.

Both Rajaji and Ashok Agarwal have been considered as reputed individuals in the society.

The close link between Santhosh Das and the rest is known by the fact that even their mobile data have been deleted off conveniently, for which the help of departments concerned is necessary without any doubt.

It is said that the statues are in possession of Mr Baredi, who is now trying to evade investigation citing health reasons.

However, the Jain seer opines that a thorough investigation will be possible only if the Chattisgarh government comes forth to extend co-operation and help.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a high-alert warning to vehicle owners regarding a surge in cyber fraud targeting those looking to pay traffic violation fines. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

•    Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

•    Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

•    Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.
