With this a sense of mystery has shrouded the case.
On August 11, the entire pious land of Subramanya was celebrating 'Nagarapanchami' but on the same day a family residing at Charmatha village of Guthigaru was under shock because their two-year-old baby named Sarika who was playing in the courtyard under the watchful eyes of her grandmother, went missing all of a sudden.
Sarika is the daughter of Mohandas-Bhavani couple. Father of the child, Mohandas is a daily wage worker.
On the unfortunate day the mother had gone to attend a meeting of an organization that she is affiliated to leaving the child with the grandmother.
At about 1.30 pm, the child ventured out to play while the grandmother constantly kept an eye on the child.
After some time when the mother came back home and asked for the child, the grandmother was shocked to see that the child had gone missing.
The family resides in a remote area, which is almost like a dense forest, with not many houses nearby. There is a 13 ft well in the courtyard of the house.
However, several local swimmers have got into the well and searched to ascertain if the child had fallen into the well.
Nothing suspicious has been found from the well either. At a distance of just 100 mts, there is a stream. There are all possibilities of the child having walked its way till the stream and then having been washed away in the flooded stream.
While search operations were conducted even here, there are no clues of the baby. Possibilities of some wild animal having nabbed the child too cannot be ruled out.
However, the villagers say that the baby must have been kidnapped by some individuals.
The villagers say that the police, who registered the complaints, came to the nearby houses and questioned them.
Apart from that the cops are not showing any interest to solve the case. While chipping in some expert divers was a must, the cops have not even done that bit.
