D Muhammed Ansar, a native of Uppala and employed at a shop at Colaba in Mumbai, was arrested from his residence at Uppala on Friday after he was found to have harboured the two persons, including the prime accused Kaliya Rafeeq, in Mumbai, said Kumbla Circle Inspector of police Sibi Thomas.
The arrest of Ansar followed the visit of a police team led by Mr. Thomas to Mumbai on a tip-off that the two of the absconding accused had fled to the city after murdering Abdul Muthalib (38) on October 24.
Ansar confessed to have harboured the prime accused Kalia Rafeeq, a known criminal, and his accomplice Shamsuddin, Mr. Thomas said. Ansar was remanded in judicial custody for two weeks, he said.
