
Mangaluru, Dec 2: Fishermen in Dakshina Kannada have suspended all fishing activities following yesterday’s fishing boat tragedy off the coast of Ullal that has reportedly claimed lives of six people.
While two bodies were recovered on Tuesday, the bodies of two more fisherman were found today and search is continuing to recover two more bodies.
Fishermen have demanded that those missing should be traced at the earliest and that no fishing activity will be undertaken until then.
Fishermen, holding black flags, have gathered at the old port and protesting. Police are also at the spot in order to ensure peace.
The fishing boat 'Shree Raksha' owned by Prashanth of Bolar capsized yesterday. It had left the Mangaluru fishing port at 5 a.m. on Monday. There were around 25 fishermen in the boat and 19 of them escaped unhurt.
