Mangaluru: Dancer Kishore Shetty's another friend arrested from Mumbai in drugs case

Mangaluru, Sep 29: CCB police of Mangaluru has made another arrest in the drug mafia case probe underway in the city, police said on Tuesday.

The arrest was made in Mumbai and the accused identified as Shaan who is said to be a drug peddler and friend of dancer Kishore Shetty who has already been arrested in the case.

It is learnt that Shaan was also having links with Mohammad Shakir, the third accused arrested in the drugs case.

Shaan, who was in Mumbai since the past several years, had maintained links with Mangaluru through his network.

Police said he had supplied drugs to a party in which anchor Anushree too had reportedly participated. It may be recalled here that Anushree was recently questioned by the CCB.

Indian Cancer Society, a not-for-profit organisation has started free tele-consultation through a Helpline in collaboration with Government of Karnataka and Oracle.

Ms. Kanchan Bannerjee, Honorary Secretary said, “Due to Covid situation many cancer patients are finding difficult to reach the hospitals or their doctors, so patients and their families are going through lot of stress and are emotionally disturbed. They are losing hope and confidence. So, to help such patients this helpline has been launched. Indian Cancer Society has a panel of general physicians as well as Oncologists in different specialties to assist the patients”

How does this Helpline work?

When the patient or caregiver calls the Helpline number, doctors (Oncologist) talk to the patient to analyze their needs. Next the patient is asked to upload the report and medical history, based on this patient can interact with the doctor through audio or video. Then doctors give advice and prescription of the medicine through the Helpline itself. Callers do not have to download any app because it operates even on a basic phone model.

This helpline operates from Monday to Saturday from 9.00am to 5.00pm

Mangaluru, Oct 13: Four people, who had indulged in circulating counterfeit notes, have been arrested in Ullal on Tuesday and fake currency Rs 2.4 lakh seized from them.

Police said the four were seen sitting inside a car near the beach when night beat police on suspicion went nearby for an inspection. Immediately two of the occupants ran away in darkness, further substantiating the doubts of the cops.

On checking the car and on enquiry four men in the car admitted that they were trying to circulate fake currency notes.

The car, five mobile phones and fake notes about Rs 2.4 lakh were seized.

The arrested were identified as Haris, Mohammad Jaman, Faisal Khan and Syed Hakib.

Mangaluru, Oct 14: Amidst incessant rains for past few days, the barrier wall of the historical Sri Karinjeshwara Temple at Bantwal taluk has collapsed.

The damage was noticed by the temple staff on the morning of Wednesday, October 14.

The courtyard adjoining the wall was used to feed monkeys after daily prayer to the god.

“The temple is located on a huge rock and has a history of almost four Century. The bottom of the collapsed area is stone and mound hence no damage was done to the temple,” the temple administrator Noonya Naik said on Wednesday.

He further stated that remedial action will be taken after structural review by a specialist.
