Bengaluru, Jul 23: The Karnataka government has transferred Ashit Mohan Prasad, State intelligence chief, to a new post, Commissioner for Traffic and Road Safety.
The transfer is suspected to be a fall out of the FIR registered against him, IGP Pronab Mohanty and former Minister K.J. George by the Madikeri rural police for their role in the alleged suicide of M.K. Ganapathi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police from Mangaluru.
While Mr. Mohanty has for a central government posting as Additional Deputy Director General of UIDAI on Thursday, Mr. Prasad was transferred to the new post on Friday.
The post for the Commissioner of Traffic and Road Safety has been declared equivalent in the status and responsibility to the post of Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) officers under Rule 11, IPS (Pay) Rules, 2007, a notification issued by the State government stated.
