Bengaluru, Mar 27: The Karnataka State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president B S Yeddyurappa, have expressed confidence that party, which had given ticket to a new face, Tejasvi Surya, for Bengaluru South, Lok Sabha seat for the April-18 Lok Sabha elections, will retain the BJP's bastion.

Speaking to newsmen, he said that "There is no any set back to the party candidate for fielding a new-face Tejaswi Surtya, after denial of ticket to Tejasvini Ananthkumar, the widow of former Union minister Ananthkumar".

Stating that party's rank and file will rally behind Tejaswi Surya, leaving behind any other issues, he recalled that "even Ananthkumar's wife had endorsed the Central party's decision and assured to work for the success of the party candidate".

It may be recalled that the Bengaluru South, Lok Sabha seat, a BJP bastion was represented as many as six time consecutively by Ananthakumar.

The Central BJP leaders, have decided to allot the party ticket to a new face overlooking the state party leaders recommendation to field Tejasvini Ananthkumar from Bengaluru South.

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and former minister Umesh Katti, had met the state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa and appealed to give party ticket to his brother and former MP, Ramesh Katti to contest from Chikkodi Lok Sabha seat.

Mr Ramesh Katti, had won the Chikkodi seat in the 2009 elections, however did not retain the seat in the 2014 elections by conceding a waferthin margin victory to the incumbent Congress member Prakash Hukkeri.

Chikkodi will go for Lok Sabha poll in the second phase of elections in Karnataka on April-23.

Suspecting over losing of the party ticket, the sitting BJP Lok Sabha member Karadi Sanganna also met state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa and appealed not to deny party ticket to seek re-election from Koppal Lok Sabha seat.
