Two policemen were attacked by miscreants in two different occasions under the limits of Commissionerate earlier this week. Aithappa, an ASI attached to Urwa police station, was hospitalised with head injuries after he was attacked with rod in the wee hours of Wednesday near Lady Hill circle. In a separate incident a police constable was slapped by a biker under the limits of Konaje police station on the same day evening.

Speaking to media persons on Friday Mr Chandra Sekhar said that he has issued directions to all policemen to use reasonable force in case of any such attacks while they are on duty. “At least one of the policemen in a team on night rounds should carry weapon,” he said.

"Two persons who were arrested in connection with the assault on ASI Aithappa have confessed to committing the crime, but the actual motive behind the act is yet to be ascertained. We are also looking at possibilities of involvement of more accused in the case,” he said.

“It is an attack on our colleague and we will not tolerate such acts,” he added.
