Bengaluru, Jan 7: The State president of National Students' Union of India (NSUI), S V Siddaveer, who had attempted suicide by consuming poison on January 2, died at a private hospital in the early hours of Tuesday. The NSUI is the Congress' student wing.
Siddaveer, 29, an active worker of the Congress party for nearly a decade, was a native of Kanakapura taluk in Ramanagara district. On January 2, he consumed food laced with poison at his home in Bairaweshwaranagar in Chandra Layout, the police said. He then called up his friends living in the nearby Nagarabhavi locality, telling them he had consumed poison. They rushed to his house and found him lying on the floor and frothing at the mouth. He was taken to another private hospital on January 5 after his condition worsened. A purported suicide note found at his home stated he himself was responsible for the extreme act. According to police, some of Siddaveer's friends said he had told them he was œfed up with life and didn't have the zeal to live anymore and wanted to end his life.
