Mangaluru, Apr 5: A 25-year-old man died while three of his family members were injured when the car they were travelling in collided with a tanker near Panemangalore Bridge on Saturday.
The Bantwal Town Police said that Riyaz (25) and his relatives, Mohammed Raziq (17), Abdul Khader (14) and Mohammed Rizwan, were heading towards B.C. Road. The car had been hired from Hotel Palace Inn. The police said that the car collided with the tanker and all the four were taken to a nearby private hospital.
Riyaz succumbed to injuries in the hospital. The police said that the tanker driver fled away from the spot soon after the accident.
The police said Riyaz and three others were from Narikombu Village. The accident slowed down movement of vehicles on the busy Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway.
It took nearly a hour to clear the mangled car and damaged tanker to restore normalcy in traffic movement.
