Bengaluru, Jan 29: The former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda has clarified that only H.D. Kumaraswamy and H.D. Revanna from his family will contest the 2018 Assembly elections.

Speaking to presspersons after attending a convention in Chitradurga on Saturday, he said that there had been rumours that seven members from his family would contest the Assembly elections. The people should not listen to them.
“As national parties such as the Congress and the BJP have deceived the people on every front, the voters should support regional parties as they understand the problems of the people from the grass-roots level and make efforts to find permanent solution to them. Party workers and supporters should convince the people about the failure of the national parties in protecting their interests and appeal them to support regional parties,” he said.
Answering a question, Mr. Gowda said that a committee has been formed to initiate disciplinary action against rebel MLAs such as B.Z. Zameer Ahmad Khan and a final decision would be taken after the committee submits its report.
