Madikeri, Oct 20: The Kodagu District administration on Sunday sounded Orange alert following a depression over the Arabian Sea which was expected to result in heavy downpour coastal Karnataka, Malnad areas and Kerala from October 20 to 24.
According the IMD, heavy rains between the range of 115.50 mm to 204.4 mm were to lash the district.
They also predicted rainfall between the range of 64.5 to 115.20 mm from 23 to 24 October.

Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.
The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike
Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.
• Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.
• Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.
• Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.
Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.
