Raichur, Sept 24: Peethadhipathi of Ujjaini Mahasamsthan Jagadguru Sri Siddalinga Rajdesikendra Shivacharya has reminded the MLAs in Karnataka that they have been elected by the people for serving the latter and not to indulge in political games.

Talking to reporters in Raichur on Sunday, the seer said that the present political situation in the State is taking a different turn day after day as MLAs, who have a big responsibility on their shoulders, are playing political games to satisfy their hunger for power.
“The MLAs must understand why they have been elected and what they have to do for the people,” he stressed.
He also advised the Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to treat the entire Karnataka as a whole without bifurcating South, North and Coastal Karnataka as far as development was concerned.
He added that elected representatives should support the Chief Minister in ensuring the overall development of the State instead of playing political games for power.
“The State government should distribute free seeds and fertilizers to farmers for the rabi season as many districts have been reeling under drought and crops have withered after the deficient rainfall during the kharif season,” the swamiji said and added that the government should announce a special package for the drought-hit areas to take up relief works, including distributing compensation for crop losses.
In an appeal to heads of religious mutts, he said that “swamijis should refrain from interfering in political activities and instead must take up public service without any expectations.” Heads of various Veerashiava mutts were present.
