A suspected saffron activist, with a fake account name of ‘Boon Nam’, had posted a comment on the Facebook page threatening to murder one Muslim man in Mangaluru within a week. Many miscreants had shared and liked the comment. This was one of the dozens of hate comments posted on ‘Veera Kesari’ page.

The hate comments against Muslims started flooding on Facebook after Jagadish Suvarna, a Bajrang Dal activist was found dead near the mouth of estuary at Bengre here on April 21, a day after he went missing.

A case of suspicious death was registered at Panambur police station after Jagadish’s brother expressed suspicion that the former would have been murdered. It is not yet clear whether it was a suicide or murder. It is learnt that Jagadish was drunk before his death. The investigation is still on. On the other hand Jagadish’s death has helped the trouble mongers to trigger communal hatred in the region through social media.
