Kozhikode, Aug 3: Passengers of Air India flight AI- 962 from Jeddah had a scare on Saturday morning when the rear tyre of the aircraft burst after it landed at Karipur airport and was taxiing to the parking bay.

All the 369 passengers and the crew on board Jeddah-Calicut flight AI962 are safe, an Air India official said after the plane landed at 8.30 a.m.
"A person in a fire tender noticed the tyre burst and alerted Air Traffic Control (ATC). The ATC informed the pilot, who brought the aircraft to a halt, vacated the runway and switched off the engine," airport officials said.
The Boeing 747-400 was towed to the parking bay using a push-pull tractor. After officials detected another technical snag, a spare aircraft was brought in from Mumbai for the return flight to Jeddah.
The incident occurred at the turning pad area of the runway, the official said. The same plane was to fly back to Jeddah.
