Mangalore, Jul 18: President of India Pranab Mukherjee on Friday travelled from Mangalore to Kerala by road amidst tight security.
Dr Mukharjee, who arrived at Mangalore International for the first time after becoming the President, was accorded a red-carpet welcome by the local authorities.
Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, and Dakshina Kannada district in charge B Ramanath Rai formally welcomed the President at the Airport.
Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim, Mangalore Mayor Mahabala Marla and police commissioner R Hitendra was also present at the airport to welcome the special guest.
Mukherjee is attending the first convocation of the Central University of Kerala at Kasaragod. He will also inaugurate the platinum jubilee celebrations of the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram.
