Mysuru, Sept 2: The preparations for world famous Mysuru Dasara Festivities began on Sunday as the first batch of six elephants started their journey on Gajapayana, the march of Dasara elephants.
The first batch of elephants began their journey from Veeranahosahalli tribal village near Nagarahole National Park in this district of Karnataka to take part in the famous ten day Dasara festivities, commencing from October 10.
As per tradition, District in-charge minister G T Deve Gowda offered pooja to the elephants before they started their journey from their jungle camp, which mark the beginning of the festivities.
