Properties worth Rs 7 crore unearthed as Lokayukta raids 7 officials including Udupi DySP

Udupi/Bangalore, Oct 1: The Lokayukta police on Tuesday raided nearly 17 premises belonging to seven government officials in three districts, including five officials in Bangalore, for owning assets allegedly disproportionate to their known sources of income.

The simultaneous raids were conducted at 17 premises in Bangalore, Mandya and Udupi. Lokayukta officials have unearthed illegal assets to the tune of Rs 7 crore.

The officials raided are T Thimme Gowda, chief engineer of Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board; K P Gangadharacharya, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Jayanagar, Bangalore; D P Mahendra, Deputy Environmental Officer with Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB); S R Srinivasan, Executive Engineer of Karnataka Residential Educational Institution Society; H M Mallikarjunaswamy, Joint Director of Town and Country Planning, Bangalore; Shantaraju, Deputy Director of Sericulture in Mandya; Dr Prabhudev Mane, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Udupi.

The police recovered immovable properties worth Rs 90.95 lakh from Thimme Gowda, including a site in Mysore, buildings at Hebbal in Mysore (Rs 40 lakh) and Nagarabhavi in Bangalore (Rs 50 lakh). The officer possessed movable properties worth Rs 11.59 lakh, including a car and bank balance (Rs 3 lakh).

The percentage of Disproportionate Assets (DA) has been estimated at 75. A senior police official said that the highest percentage of DA among the raids conducted on Tuesday was 276 (D P Mahendra).

The police said that the Deputy Environmental Officer of KSPCB possessed immovable properties worth Rs 79 lakh, including a building at Rajarajeshwarinagar in Bangalore (Rs 70 lakh), five sites at HBR Layout (Rs 2 lakh), a site at Vijayanagar (Rs 2 lakh) and land in Maddur (Rs 2 lakh).

The officer also possessed Rs 42.8 lakh worth of movable properties, including two cars, two motorcycles, bank balance (Rs 10 lakh) and fixed deposits (Rs 12 lakh).

The Lokayukta police recovered immovable properties worth Rs 1.45 crore from ARTO Gangadharacharya. The properties include a building at Rajarajeshwarinagar in Bangalore (Rs 30 lakh), six sites at Halagevaderahalli near Kengeri (Rs 62 lakh) and land at Halagevaderahalli (Rs 53 lakh).

The officer also possessed movable assets worth Rs 36 lakh, including two cars (Rs 23 lakh) and cash Rs 4.9 lakh. A bank locker is yet to be examined, police said.

Executive Engineer S R Srinivasan possessed immovable assets worth Rs 1.88 crore, including a commercial building at HSR Layout (Rs 1.60 crore), another building in Koramangala (Rs 20 lakh) and four sites, two in Hoskote, one each at Banashankari in Bangalore and Davangere (Rs 8 lakh).

The officer owns movable assets worth Rs 64.49 lakh, including three cars (Rs 14 lakh), cash (Rs 6.58 lakh) and silver weighing 7 kg (Rs 2.66 lakh).

H M Mallikarjunaswamy, Director of Town and Country Planning, Bangalore: Immovable properties worth Rs 1 crore, including building at Vijayanagar (Rs 15 lakh), building at Kengeri (Rs 60 lakh), three sites at Srigandhakaval (Rs 24 lakh) and land at Tumkur (Rs 5 lakh).

Movable properties worth Rs 65 lakh, including cash (Rs 16.68 lakh), gold weighing 591.67 gm (Rs 16.15 lakh) and fixed deposits (Rs 10 lakh).

Shantaraju, Deputy Director of Sericulture, Mandya: Immovable properties worth Rs 50.25 lakh, including house in Mandya city (Rs 45 lakh). Movable properties worth Rs 24 lakh, including two cars (Rs 17.50 lakh).

Dr Prabhudev Mane, Deputy Superintendent, Udupi: Immovable properties worth Rs 31 lakh, including a house in Hubli (Rs 30 lakh), another house in Hubli (Rs 50,000) and a site in Haveri (Rs 56,000). Movable properties unearthed include 150 gram of gold, a car and furniture.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: The Mangaluru City Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the inaugural ceremony of Karavali Utsava, which will be held at the Karavali Utsava Ground on Saturday.

The festival will be inaugurated at 6:00 pm by Dakshina Kannada District Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. Cultural and public programmes will be held at the venue every evening and will continue until January 2.

According to City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, parking of vehicles is strictly prohibited on both sides of the road from Lalbagh to Karavali Utsava Ground. Visitors are requested to park their vehicles only at designated parking areas.

To help the public, traffic signboards and parking guidance flex boards have been installed along the routes leading to the venue. The police have urged commuters and visitors to follow these instructions to ensure smooth traffic movement.
