Protest continues in Surathkal demanding justice for Kabeer

Mangalore, Apr 28: Residents of Surathkal, Krishnapur, Katipalla and Chokkabettu with several other like-minded organizations under the banner Nagarika Seva Samiti Surathkal' took out a protest rally with black flags from Shamsuddin Circle to Surathkal against brutal killing of Kabeer by the Anti Naxal Force near Sringeri on April 19.

Addressing the protestors thinker G Rajashekhar said that it was disheartening to see growing injustice, atrocity on ordinary citizens by the state machinery.

There are plenty of unanswered questions, suspicion regarding Kabeer murder. “The government is wriggling out of these questions,” he said.

Why no complaints filed on cattle theft?'

DYFI state president Muneer Katipalla questioned why single complaint had been filed in Sringeri if Kabeer stole the cattle as claimed by the Sang Parivar. Bajarang Dal activists are spreading lies that Kabeer was trafficking more than 20 cows in a pick-up van. “How was it possible to do in a single night,” he questioned.

He also accused that Pramod, the driver of the cattle laden vehicle in which Kabeer and others were travelling, was intimidated by someone.' “He is giving contradictory statements. His face, lips have swollen indicating physical assault to twist the story,” he said.

PFI Puttur Zonal President Shafi Bellare, Abdul Azeez Darimi Chokkabett and others spoke on the occasion.

Nagarika Seva Samiti' President Ahmed Basheer Krishnapur presided. Kabeer's brother Muhammad Ismaeel, SDPI state committee member Jaleel Krishnapur, Samiti members Irfan, Azhar, Shuaib, Shaikh, Sathar, Maqbool, Abbas and others were president.

The protestors demanded to hand over the case to CBI, enhance the compensation amount to Rs 50 lakh, provide government job to one of the family members and suspend ANF constable who killed Kabeer.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: The Mangaluru City Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the inaugural ceremony of Karavali Utsava, which will be held at the Karavali Utsava Ground on Saturday.

The festival will be inaugurated at 6:00 pm by Dakshina Kannada District Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. Cultural and public programmes will be held at the venue every evening and will continue until January 2.

According to City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, parking of vehicles is strictly prohibited on both sides of the road from Lalbagh to Karavali Utsava Ground. Visitors are requested to park their vehicles only at designated parking areas.

To help the public, traffic signboards and parking guidance flex boards have been installed along the routes leading to the venue. The police have urged commuters and visitors to follow these instructions to ensure smooth traffic movement.

The police have appealed to the public to cooperate by following traffic rules and parking guidelines to avoid inconvenience during the festival.
