Mangalore/Bangalore, Oct 26: Heavy rains continued to lash various parts of Karnataka on Sunday morning throwing normal life out of gear. The heavy downpour has also left a trail of woes for the residents of Bangalore, Shimoga and Bellary, with storm water gushing into the houses and inundating the low-lying areas.
On Saturday, a 20-year-old man was washed away in water overflowing from a pond near Karur village near Bellary. K?Nagaraj drowned when he had taken his buffalo to the pond so that it can drink water at around 7 am.
Cotton, chilli, jowar and paddy crops were damaged after a pond overflowed at Kammarachedu village in Bellary taluk. People faced inconvenience as the bridge connecting the village to the outer world was submerged. Rainwater entered most houses in the village and the nearby Malegadde camp. While Bellary city recorded 66.8 mm of rain, Kudathini in the taluk received 10 cm. Furniture and computers at the school in Kammarachedu were found floating. Traffic was affected on the Rupanagudi-Bellary road. Sewage overflowed on to the roads in Koppal city, throwing traffic out of gear.
It has been raining for the past couple of days in Raichur district, including the city. This has brought joy among the farming community.
Normal life was thrown out of gear in Mundagod following heavy rains. Sirsi, Siddapur,?Yellapur, Haliyal and Joida received good showers. Kushalnagar in Kodagu district experienced drizzling throughout the day. Koodige, Hebbale, Shirangala, Hosakote and surrounding areas too received rain.
It drizzled in Bhatkal, Honnavar, Kumta, Ankola and Karwar in Uttara Kannada district on Saturday.

A cloudy atmosphere prevailed across coastal Karnataka and Chikmagalur district on Sunday. The U-turn by the weather has forced the people in Malnad areas to unpack woolens once again.
Moderate rain lashed Dakshina Kannada and Chikmagalur throughout Saturday night. The city of Mangalore remained cloudy for third consequent day. Fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea in the next 24 hours.
The maximum temperature fell at many places over coastal Karnataka and changed little over remaining parts of the state.
