Mangalore, Apr 7: All the three persons arrested in connection with the murder of auto-rickshaw driver Rajesh at Kalpane, are innocents and victims a conspiracy hatched by the police, claimed the family members.

Addressing media persons in the city on Monday the family members of the arrested also accused the police of torturing them in the name of investigation.

“Police are not probing into the case fairly. They have picked up three innocents and fixed them in murder case” they said demanding a fair probe by honest and sincere police officers.

They said that none of the arrested had any crime record “They were hard working labourers and bread winners of their families. They have become victims of some conspiracy,” they said.

They also accused the police of forcing the youth to confess the crime which they did not commit. The arrested were also subjected to electric shock, they added.

It could be recalled here that Rajesh was hacked to death near Polali on March 21 by unidentified miscreants. Police had arrested three suspects - Hussain, Imran and Irshad, all residents of Mallur -on April 1. Police also had claimed that they had recovered weapons from the accused.
