Bengaluru, Dec 6: Ramachandrapura Mutt pontiff Raghaveshwara Bharathi, accused of raping a singer of a Ramakatha dance drama troupe, on Friday underwent medical examinations at the Nephro-Urology department in Victoria Hospital in the City.

The seer, who had on Thursday sought a week's time to take the tests, however, appeared at the hospital around 8 am on Friday.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials had noticed the seer twice on Thursday, after the High Court dismissed his petition challenging the test, asking him to appear for medical examination.

Raghaveshwara's counsel said the CID officials were showing undue urgency in conducting the test. The seer's lawyers requested the CID officials to grant the seer some time to appear for the test. But the CID officials served another notice on Wednesday night asking him to appear for the test.

A?team of doctors, which conducted multiple tests on Raghaveshwara, said the seer was quite co-operative.

Sources said the pontiff underwent 13 different tests. Though he gave his consent to all other tests, he did not co-operate with the doctors for three tests, the sources said.
Dr Durganna, medical superintendent, Victoria Hospital, said the medical examination went on for about five hours.

A five-member expert team comprising Dr Durganna, Dr Veeranna Gowda, Dr Venkata Raghav, Dr C?R?Chandrashekar and Dr H Chandrashekar conducted 13 tests.

Declining to reveal if the examinations included a potency test, Durganna said, “He is yet to give his consent for three tests. The samples have been handed over to one of the City-based laboratories and the results are awaited.”

A CID?official said the investigation in the case was still going on. “We will wait for the report from the Nephro-Urology department and analyse the results we have received from the Forensic Science Laboratory. The final report will be submitted after receiving the report from the department,” he said.

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Air India Express has announced that it will resume direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat from March 2026, restoring an important international air link for passengers from the coastal region.

Airport authorities said the service will operate twice a week—on Sundays and Tuesdays—from March 1. The initial flights are scheduled on March 3, 8 and 10, followed by March 15 and 17, with the same operating pattern to continue thereafter. The flight duration is approximately three hours and 25 minutes.

The Mangaluru–Muscat route was earlier operated under the 2025 summer schedule, with services beginning on July 14. At that time, Air India Express had operated four flights a week before suspending the service.

Officials said the summer schedule will come into effect from March 29, after which changes in flight timings and departure schedules from Mangaluru are expected. Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules while planning their travel.

The resumption of direct flights to Muscat is expected to significantly benefit expatriates, business travellers and others, further strengthening Mangaluru’s air connectivity with the Gulf region.
