Bengaluru, May 3: In spite of the massive media campaign against him, Karnataka minister U T Khader has refused to remove the red beacon light from his official car, saying that he is not supposed to alter the vehicle given by the state government.

Replying to a query of media persons on Wednesday, Mr Khader, who holds the food and civil supplies portfolio, clarified that he did not change his decision to wait for state government’s order on removing red beacon light. But he decided to travel in a different car to save the time of his critics.
“It was the Karnataka state government that had given me the car with a red beacon light and not the central government. I can just use the car but I don’t have right to alter it. I have another car and I will use it until the state government takes a decision over beacon light,” Mr Khader reiterated.
