Rejecting the report the Congress government of state on Thursday decided to implement the National Human Rights Commission's (NHRC) recommendations which include taking action against pro-Hindutva groups responsible for the incidents.
Dubbing government's decision œunwarranted , a Sri Ram Sena leader has said that chief minister Siddaramiah-led Congress government is unnecessarily raking up a forgotten issue.
Leaders of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal also have expressed dissatisfaction over the fresh development and accused the state government of trying to disrupt the peace in the society.
Jagadish Shenava, a local leader of VHP, questioned the necessity of raking up a six year old incident, which according to him the people of state had already forgotten.
œThe government has already wasted crores of rupees in the name of inquiry. Now it has decided to waste few more crores in the name of appointing another commission, he said accusing the government of attempting to divert the attention of people from its failure to implement development-oriented projects.
Meanwhile, justifying government's decision, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra said the report was rejected as the interim report submitted by the commission was totally contradictory to the recommendations of the final report. The report had generated a lot of heat with allegations of political bias and was referred to the Law Department for its views. The department recommended its scrapping, Jayachandra said.
