Hassan, Mar 20: HD Revanna has been knocking on the doors of senior Congress leaders in Hassan to shore up support for his son Prajwal, who was announced the JD(S) candidate from the constituency. This is the first time in two decades Revanna is visiting houses of local leaders.

The PWD minister appears to have got the jitters after Congress leader A Manju joined the BJP and is likely to contest against Prajwal.

Revanna and wife Bhavani, a ZP member in Hassan, dropped in on B Shivaram, KPCC vice-president, on Tuesday and interacted with him. Prajwal and his parents also visited CS Puttegowda, a senior Congress leader, at his residence in Channarayapatna on Monday. Incidentally, the former JD(S) MLA refused to allow Prajwal to touch his feet even when Bhavani insisted. The former MLA told them “Prajwal’s puja to God was more than enough”.

Shivaram told reporters there is no question of refusing to extend support to Prajwal as he is a candidate of the JD(S)-Congress alliance. “We will abide by directives of the party’s top brass,” Shivaram said.

On another note, Revanna, whose comments against Sumalatha Ambareesh recently had created a political storm, said he will tour Mandya. “I will go to Mandya and even Mysuru to campaign for former CM Siddaramaiah's candidate,” he said.
