Mangaluru, Mar 16: Veteran Congress leader and former union minister B Janardhan Poojary came down heavily on the communal forces working against the society in the name of religion and also criticised a certain local Congress leader for taking part in the Hindu Samajotsav recently held by Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Mangaluru.

He also accused the saffron brigades of dividing the country in the name of religion. Is the Hinduism that propagated by the Sangh Parivar including BJP and Bajrang Dal which spreads hatred and attempts to divide the country?, he asked.
“Hinduism means loving all creatures, treating everyone as God’s children and living in harmony – not sowing seeds of hatred in the society. Hinduism preaches the welfare of all human beings, he said, pointing that wearing saffron-coloured attire and assaulting others did not bring honour to Hindu religion,” he said.
“It is a blemish on saffron clothes. Why did you not raise your voice when a provocative speech was made by one of the main speakers?” he slammed at Congress member Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, who had taken part in the Samajothsav, without naming him.
He also claimed that BJP had tried to spark riots in the state ahead of state assembly elections by damaging churches, masjids and even temples, but suffered a heavy defeat in the elections.
