Bengaluru, 19: More than a year after a 30-year-old woman from Omani and her three minor children mysteriously disappeared after landing at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, the police have launched a search operation.

“We were alerted by the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman, New Delhi, on Friday. A First Information Report has been registered and efforts are on to track the family,” said an officer from the jurisdictional Kempegowda International Airport Police Station.

Sources, however, admitted that it would not be easy to find out what happened, as the trail may have gone cold after so many months.

The woman has been identified as Pinjarewale Sabera Shaikh Husain (30), and her three children — a seven-year-old boy, and two girls aged 11 and four. They landed at Kempegowda International Airport on September 5, 2017 from Oman and are missing since then.

According to the police, Ms. Husain’s family wrote to the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in New Delhi seeking help.

“Embassy officials, in turn, alerted us. Based on a memo received by the airport police, a case has been opened,” said the police.

Investigators are now seeking more information and said they have reached out to embassy officials seeking information on Ms. Husain’s family and the purpose of her visit.

Alerts have been sent out to airports across the country. “We have also sought CCTV footage from the airport and are questioning the staff,” a police officer said.
