Bangalore, July 17: A 17-year-old seminary student was allegedly raped in Bangalore's north-east suburb Wednesday by three unidentified men, a police official late Thursday.

"According to a complaint filed by the victim Thursday, the incident happened Wednesday afternoon when the three accused had barged into the Sisters of Holy Nativity premises at Hennur and forcibly entered her room. After sexually assaulting her, they escaped, leaving the victim unconscious," Joint Commissioner of Police K.V. Sharat Chandra told reporters.

The incident occurred when the victim was alone on the ground floor, while three of her other colleagues were in the first floor of the seminary building.

"The victim has been admitted to St John's Hospital for check-up. We have registered a case of sexually assault against the accused under section 376 of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) and investigation is on," Chandra said.

Police have launched a hunt to trace the unidentified accused as they are absconding.

The latest incident came to light on a day when hundreds of parents protested against the management of a private school in the city's south-east suburb where a six-year-old minor was allegedly sexually assaulted by two staff members July 2 during school hours.

Police registered a case under section 376 of the IPC against the accused and detained them for interrogation after the victim's parents lodged a complaint July 14 in the local police station.

In another incident last weekend, a 22-year-old post-graduate student was allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted July 12 by the son of Bahujam Samaj Party (BSP) leader at Frazer Town in the city's eastern suburb when she was in a car with her male friend in front of her apartment.

Police arrested the main accused Nasir Hyder Tuesday and two of his accomplices Wednesday after the victim lodged a complaint July 13, while three others, who were also present when the incident occurred, are still at large.
